death-atomic:
I mean, what is the new year really?
Is tomorrow going to be any different than today? No. Chances are you are going to get up tomorrow morning, there will be daylight outside and you’re probably going to go about the day just like you did any day during 2010.
I mean, when you think about it, it…
To think that its no big deal that the Earth has made yet another revolution around the sun is silly. I mean come on, its such a fucking epic task, something that you me, or any religion founded on hearsay can stand to. It is an amazing phenomena that gravity even exists, and for this chunk of rock relatively small comparing to the other chunks of rock that are relatively very close was just the perfect size and speed and angle and was comprised of the right atoms to create and atmosphere and go in a loop around the sun, let alone spawn life on it is fucking awe inspiring. The way that everything worked out perfectly kicks absolute ass. Even if it was bound to happen somewhere in this extremely vast universe it happened here, and that kicks some straight ass. Even though today is just the same as yesterday and the same as tomorrow would be, today is the day that we recognize that we have traveled 587 million miles since 365 1/4th days ago. If that isn’t something spectacular or worth celebration then you shouldn’t be so quick to get excited over whatever band it is you like, or how you graduated high school, or that you have a family, because all of those things are quite unremarkable in comparison to how utterly amazing the Earth is.
